Window_Balcony_Child_Lock - 3D Printer

A very big source of danger for children are windows, because the own child climbs from time to time with much skill on the window sill to look outside. An opened window, or one which can be opened easily, quickly becomes a threatening danger to life and limb if no appropriate precautions are taken.

Security and a good feeling are not only provided by the baby or kids monitor, but also by a lockable window or balcony door. By means of an appropriate window safety device, the urge to discover should be stopped at the window so that the beloved children do not come into danger and fall out of the window or throw objects out of the window.

Child locks for windows and balcony doors

Door and window handles that can be locked with a key are a frequently used method. So anyone who has installed such windows is already well equipped. However, you don't necessarily have to have completely new windows installed to make them childproof.

If you search for Window Childlock Window Childlock you will find all sorts of options to upgrade your home to make it a bit safer. Some window retrofit sets are simply screwed between handle and window frame, others replace the existing handle on window or balcony or terrace door. Others require holes to be drilled or glued. In my opinion, one can only advise against the latter in particular, as they do not offer a permanently reliable solution.

In particular, the security variants, which replace the original window handle and provide a lock including keys (usually 2), have various advantages and often score positively in customer evaluations.

  1. The lock is integrated in the handle. Often a push button has to be pressed to open the window, which increases security once again.
  2. Slightly more expensive window locks are often also burglar protection at the same time. As a rule, these also have, for example, 1 to 2 swivel bolts, which are intended to prevent the window from being levered open from the outside.
  3. Can subsequently make any window, balcony door and patio door childproof.

Children window lock from the 3D printer

My small 3D printer construction may not look professional, but it does serve its purpose and reliably prevents the double window from opening in the children's room.

Window ChildLock - 3D printedThe children's window lock window lock was printed in 2 parts, each with PLA filament. The layer height was set to 0.3mm, and infill to 70%. The STL-file to print by yourself is available for download here at thingiverse. A quite simple but in my eyes good solution. 🙂
